Antoine Lilti teaches modern history at the 脡cole Normale Sup茅rieure. His research interests include history and historiography of the French Enlightenment, sociability in modern Europe, and forms of celebrity. He has published to much critical acclaim Le Monde des salons. Sociabilit茅 et mondanit茅 脿 Paris au XVIIIe si猫cle, (Paris: Fayard, 2005), which received the prize Gustave Chaix d鈥橢st-Ange from the Acad茅mie des sciences morales et politiques, and is to be published in an English translation as The society of salons听: sociability and worldliness, (transl. Lydia Cochrane, New York: Oxford University Press, 2011).
