ºÚÁϰٿÆ's Expansion Project Continues to Garner Acclaim

Since its completion three years ago, the Merced 2020 Project has amassed numerous accolades. Most recently, the landmark project that, in essence, doubled the size of the university's campus, was selected to receive the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Americas Award for Excellence.

ºÚÁÏ°Ù¿Æ Ranked 15th Best Public College in the Nation By Wall Street Journal

ºÚÁÏ°Ù¿Æ has been recognized by the Wall Street Journal  ranking published today. Out of 400 universities that were looked at nationwide, ºÚÁÏ°Ù¿Æ came in at No. 15 for public institutions. The university was ranked No. 59 overall.

ºÚÁϰٿÆ, Merced College to Provide New Housing for Transfer Students

ºÚÁÏ°Ù¿Æ and Merced College will jointly build a 488-bed student housing project for community college and transfer students. The California Legislature gave final approval to the $100 million funding mechanism for the project on Wednesday, Aug. 30.

The Labyrinth Provides Space to Reflect, Meditate and Find Peace on Campus

Just in time for the start of the academic year, ºÚÁϰٿÆ's newest landmark has opened —The Labyrinth.

Located in Kelley Grove overlooking Little Lake, ºÚÁÏ°Ù¿Æ Art Director Collin Lewis calls The Labryinth "a testament to our university's commitment to fostering creativity, contemplation and community engagement."

Bobcats Returning to New Features and Opportunities at ºÚÁϰٿÆ

ºÚÁÏ°Ù¿Æ is preparing to welcome back thousands of students to campus for the start of the university's 19th academic year.

From Aug. 17-20, family and friends will join incoming Bobcats as they arrive on campus throughout . As they settle into the residence halls, student and staff volunteers will be ready to help and answer questions. Almost 4,200 undergraduate students will reside in on-campus housing this academic year.

Clovis Native Excited to Represent the Central Valley Playing for ºÚÁÏ°Ù¿Æ Volleyball Team

ºÚÁÏ°Ù¿Æ is highlighting incoming students for fall 2023 — a dynamic, diverse and accomplished cohort of new Bobcats.

When Clovis native and lifelong volleyball player Morgan Wilson first began exploring her options to play at the collegiate level, her path was not clear. She had several out-of-state opportunities, none of which felt like the right fit.

"I didn't even feel a spark with a lot of the schools," she said.

Then she visited ºÚÁϰٿÆ.

ºÚÁÏ°Ù¿Æ graduate student Josiah Beharry appointed as 2024-25 UC student Regent

The University of California Board of Regents has appointed University of California, Merced graduate student Josiah Beharry to be the 2024-25 student Regent.

Beharry is the 50th student Regent, a position established in 1975. He will serve as the student Regent-designate for the coming year, able to participate in all deliberations, and will have voting privileges when his one-year term as a Regent begins in July 2024. Beharry's appointment carries additional significance, as he is the first student from the ºÚÁÏ°Ù¿Æ campus to serve as student Regent.

ºÚÁϰٿÆ, Yosemite Community College District Launch Transfer Program

ºÚÁÏ°Ù¿Æ and the Yosemite Community College District (YCCD) have partnered to further extend access for transfer students in the Central Valley.

By signing the Merced Promise Pathway Program memorandum of understanding, the two institutions give students attending YCCD - which includes Modesto Junior College and Columbia College - a clear, streamlined pathway to ºÚÁÏ°Ù¿Æ as well as a multitude of support options to help them prepare for life at a four-year university.

SoCal Student Says ºÚÁÏ°Ù¿Æ Will Be a ‘Breath of Fresh Air’

It's the change of pace that Kayla Lopez has been craving. In August, she will leave the busy streets of Southern California and head north to begin her first semester at ºÚÁϰٿÆ. Lopez is already daydreaming about the scenery around campus where she said she can "take a deep breath of fresh air."

Incoming Fresno Student Prepares to Launch Her Health Career at ºÚÁϰٿÆ

ºÚÁÏ°Ù¿Æ is highlighting incoming students for fall 2023 — a dynamic, diverse and accomplished cohort of new Bobcats.

Delia Rodriguez poured her heart into college prep — applying to almost 20 universities. When it came time to make her choice, opportunities in health science pointed her to a UC close to home.

"I think what led me to ºÚÁÏ°Ù¿Æ was the Health Scholars Program that I got into," said Rodriguez.
