Rakesh Goel developed an interest in earthquakes at an early age 鈥� and聽rather abruptly.

As a small boy in India, one of his first memories is of experiencing an聽earthquake.

"I must have been a few years old and there was a big earthquake,"聽said Dr.聽Goel. "I clung to the window, thinking that it was a big freight train聽going by the house."

聽聽聽 Newsom was invited by Assemblymember Adam Gray, who co-teaches the class
聽聽聽 and provides insight about how government, specifically the California
聽聽聽 State Legislature, operates. As part of the course, students take on
聽聽聽 various roles, including state senators, lobbyists and the media, as well
聽聽聽 as a candidate running for governor.
